Community Rules & Safety

Applies To: All Residents, Guests, and Visitors

This document outlines the community rules and safety protocols for all residents of Magnolia Housing Authority (MHA). These guidelines are in place to promote a clean, respectful, and safe living environment for all tenants.

  • Respect for Neighbors
  • Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
  • Loud music, disruptive behavior, or any form of harassment is strictly prohibited.

Property Maintenance

  • Keep all yards, porches, and walkways clear of trash and debris.
  • No hanging laundry or other items on railings or fences. Report any maintenance issues promptly to the office.

Guests

  • Residents are responsible for the behavior of their guests.
  • Guests staying more than 14 consecutive days must be approved by management.

Parking

  • Only park in designated parking areas.
  • Do not block driveways, fire lanes, or other vehicles.III. Fire Safety Guidelines

Smoke Detectors

  • Do not tamper with or remove smoke detectors. Test monthly and report malfunctions.

Open Flames

  • Candles, incense, and any open flames are not allowed inside units.
  • Barbecue grills must be used at least 10 feet away from any structure

Emergency Evacuation

  • Know your building’s exits and evacuation routes.
  • In case of fire, exit immediately and call 911. Do not try to retrieve personal belongings.

Heaters and Appliances

  • Do not use space heaters unless they are approved and meet safety standards.
  • Turn off stoves and appliances when not in use.

Locks & Doors

  • Keep doors and windows locked when not at home.
  • Do not leave valuables in plain sight.

Suspicious Activity

  • Report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement and the MHA office immediately.

Children’s Safety

  • Supervise children at all times.
  • Do not allow children to play in parking lots or near busy roads.

Weapons & Illegal Substances

  • No weapons or illegal substances are allowed on MHA property.
  • Violations will result in immediate action and possible eviction.
  • Emergencies (Fire, Medical, Crime)
  • Call 911 immediately.
  • Notify the MHA office as soon as possible after emergency services are contacted.

Non-Emergency Incidents

  • Report issues such as vandalism, noise complaints, or safety concerns to the MHA office by calling or visiting in person during business hours.

Anonymous Reporting

  • Residents may submit anonymous concerns via the suggestion box located at the office or by email
  • Create and practice a family emergency plan.
  • Participate in community safety meetings or training when offered.
  • Ensure that hallways and exits remain clear at all times.
  • Use proper lighting around your home. Report broken lights immediately.
  • Never overload electrical outlets or power strips

Failure to follow community rules and safety protocols may result in:

  • Written warnings
  • Fines
  • Eviction proceedings for repeated or severe violations
