🚨 Emergency Preparedness Notice
In the Event of a Power Outage or Winter Emergency
In case of a power outage during cold weather, please review the following safety tips to help protect yourself and your household:
🧣 Staying Warm Without Power
• Stay in one room and close off unused rooms to conserve heat
• Wear multiple layers of clothing, including hats and socks
• Use blankets, coats, and towels for added warmth
• Avoid using ovens, grills, or generators indoors—this can cause carbon monoxide poisoning
• If safe, use flashlights instead of candles to reduce fire risk
• Check frequently on elderly residents and children, who lose body heat faster
If you begin to feel extremely cold, confused, or dizzy, seek help immediately.
🍼 Families with Small Children
• Keep children dry and warmly dressed, even indoors
• Have extra blankets, diapers, formula, baby food, and medications ready
• Keep children away from space heaters or open flames
🧊 Keeping Food Cold Without Electricity
• Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible
• A full freezer can keep food cold for up to 48 hours if unopened
• Place ice packs or frozen water bottles in the refrigerator if available
• If food smells unusual, has thawed completely, or feels warm—do not consume it
• When in doubt, throw it out
📞 Stay Connected
• Keep a charged phone or battery-powered radio nearby for updates
• Report emergencies or urgent maintenance issues as soon as possible
Your safety is our priority. Please prepare ahead and look out for one another during severe weather conditions.
